Pod donates $500 to Scholarship Fund At the January meeting the Pod voted to donate $500 to the CASI Scholarship Fund. The check was given to our Treasurer at the meeting, who graciously accepted it. The donation was made in memory of Albert de la Garza's mother who recently passed away. For those who do not know Albert, he is the Vice President of Ancira. Albert and Ancira do so much for CASI, it was nice to let him know that he was in out thoughts. GP - Steve ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Texas Hill Country Pod Chili Cookoff 2002 The Texas Hill Country Pod held their 10th Annual cookoff in Waring, TX. The event was kicked off Friday night with a Cooks Party sponsored by Hill Country Software. It appeared that a good time was had by all, as there was PLENTY of group participation as the band played during the course of the evening. A BIG thanks to Jim, Shirley, Will, Curtis, and James the Cook! The schedule of event on Saturday included, Chili, Beans and also Green Chili competitions. We had 61 gracious people register for chili with 60 turning in. Apparently a certain (musically inclined) CASI Director, was registered to cook chili, but had some "issues" and was therefore unable to share his bowl of red with the hungry judges. There was also a large raffle going on during the course of the day, with one of the highlighted items being a $400 slot machine, donated by Ancira Motorhomes. On Saturday evening the annual "Soup Off" was held and everyone in attendance was treated to around 25 different soups and plenty of heart stopping desserts. I would personally like to thank everyone that came out to support the cookoff and participate in the many events. I would also like to thank all of the Texas Hill Country Pod members who worked tirelessly before, during, and after the cookoff. Also, special props to Jimmy Taylor, who shows up, goes to work, and runs the best judging in the business! Ancira Motorhomes sponsored the trophies and donated the slot machine and Spurs Tickets. Ancira does so much for our entire organization and we cannot thank them enough. "Think Ancira!" GP - Steve ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The "Christmas in Comfort" parade, although very cold, was a huge success. The Texas Hill Country Pod's float won 1st place for Best Christmas Music. I'm sorry to say though that only two of the many bells used on the float survived the entire journey. |
